August is drawing to a close, the new school year is just around the corner, and one of the busiest times of year for divorce lawyers is about to begin. After school opens, after the Christmas holiday, the month of March and after the school year ends, seem to be the most popular times for folks to contact divorce lawyers. The timing seems to be driven by a desire to disturb the children as little as possible and also by the sense that these times of year are good for new beginnings.
Certainly many divorces are triggered by crisis behaviors, violence, cheating or addiction, and those cases begin when the crisis occurs. In almost half of all cases, one side decides when and how to divorce and the other has to respond with little or no control over the timing.
If you are considering divorce, you have undoubtedly done considerable soul searching and careful decision making. You are also probably scared. Divorce is scary and sad, but I believe for many folks it leads to a much happier, healthier life.
